Making 2021 Brighter

Posted by Ava Kuhn on

We love making the world brighter every day. From the products we design to the ways we give back, we're always looking for opportunities to create an impact. With your help, we've been able to accomplish so many amazing feats this year.

These accomplishments are made possible because of our community: Y-O-U. From filling backpacks with nourishing meals to building a home for rescue and restoration to take place, we're so grateful for your support. Learn more about our efforts in 2021 ... we can't wait to see what we can do in 2022!

The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer is focused on developing and improving therapies for some of the most difficult-to-treat types of breast cancer.

This year, we were able to donate $1.5 million to the Foundation, which brought us to a total of $37.5 million donated since 1993! We also designed two prints to support their life-saving research. Hope Blooms and Hope Blooms Pink raised awareness and gave back — 5% of the purchase price went directly to the Foundation during the month of October.

One of our favorite parts of the year? The 27th Annual Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Classic, which always brings people together for the most fun women's golf charity tournament ... and pickleball tournament, too!

Blessings in a Backpack provides nourishing meals on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

Our partnership with Blessings in a Backpack is so close to our hearts year-round and a huge focus during our back-to-school season. Every backpack purchase supported our partnership and helped feed kids in need. In total, we were able to donate $105,000 this year!

We were also able to visit a school and honor a teacher's commitment to brightening her community. Ms. Hall brought Blessings in a Backpack to her students, so we gave her classroom makeover! We also provided backpacks to students in need and tote bags to teachers that supported the program.

New Hope Girls provides rescue, refuge and restoration to girls and women in the Dominican Republic arising from the darkest and most difficult places.

In celebration of International Women's Day (and the tenth anniversary of New Hope Girls!), we partnered once again to launch a limited-edition collection. These special styles were a vibrant reminder of the organization's mission to provide jobs for women and refuge for girls. 75% of the purchase price went directly to helping their cause. Because of you, we were able to donate over $40,000!

This fall, we helped create a new home to safely house more girls in the Dominican Republic. Our team helped finish and prepare this space so that the program can save even more lives. We're so grateful for this unforgettable trip and can't wait for future opportunities to visit again and lend a hand.

Caring for our planet is a part of our commitment to building a better future together. One of our big goals? To update 100% of our fabrics to more sustainable alternatives by 2025!

This year, we introduced Recycled Cotton, our newest eco-friendly fabrication! It's everything you know and love about our go-to fabrication: the softness, the comfort, the vibrancy — now crafted with reclaimed fibers. Additionally, we designed even more styles in sustainable ReActive, saving 7.1 million plastic bottles and counting from going into oceans and landfills.

We are always improving our designs, our materials and how our products are created. We also partnered with ThredUp to encourage reusing and recycling. Through our innovative designs and eco-conscious practices, we're establishing quality and durability as style standards.

We look for ways to help year-round! In 2021, we donated $20,000 each to Free Mom Hugs and Women Who Create, and designed a special-edition Unity Tote to amplify the voices of BIPOC communities.

Caring is at our core and a big part of our promise to you. Keep an eye out for continued contributions in 2022 — we can't wait to support more events!
