Vera Bradley x Blessings in a Backpack

Posted by Adele Poudrier on

It’s that time of year again — back-to-school season. As a brand that prides itself on its stylish and functional back to school collection, this is certainly one of our favorite times of year. Students across the country have been gearing up to head back to school over the past few weeks, getting new school supplies, clothes and of course, a new backpack.

Unfortunately for millions of students, school supplies are not their main concern. When Blessings in a Backpack reached out to us with an opportunity to partner this school year to help children in need, we were so excited to get involved!

Vera Bradley is partnering with the non-profit organization, Blessings in a Backpack, to donate 25,000 backpacks to children in need this fall. Blessings in a Backpack works with communities to provide food on the weekends for children across the United States who might otherwise go hungry. More than 13 million children in the US are at risk of hunger, resulting in a weaker immune system, shorter attention span and lower academic achievement. This program provides each child with a backpack that they can fill not only with school supplies, but also with food to ensure they’re receiving nutritional meals on the weekends, too.

Tanner and I had so much fun putting smiles on the faces of the students of Broadmoor Elementary! We were so honored to help Vera Bradley and Blessings in a Backpack as they donated free backpacks to the students as well as helped put an end to child hunger.

I have a daughter in elementary school. . .so to get a chance to get involved to do something like this and surprise a lot of kids for the day, I think that's an amazing thing.

I'm honestly amazed by it — to hear how many kids go without food and the struggles that they have. Just seeing these kids have so much fun, I feel very overjoyed and very blessed to be apart of this.
